Dear Valued Clients and Friends,
We hope you remain healthy and safe as we all adapt to the impacts of COVID-19. In response to the increasing number of cases and uncertainty, we want to make you aware of the precautions we are taking to protect the health and safety of our employees, their families, and our clients while maintaining a consistent level of client service.
Effective Friday, March 20, we have closed our offices and restricted access to office personnel only in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
We ask those of you who have used our client File Share portal in the past to use this portal as your primary method to send us your information. You may access our File Share portal by going to the bottom of our website homepage:
If you have not used our encrypted File Share portal before, you may create an account by clicking on the following link:
At the login screen, select the "Register" button to create a new account. Once your account has been created, we will need to activate it for you. After we activate your account, you will be able to send your information to us electronically. If you have any trouble creating a File Share account or using our File Share portal, call our office for assistance.
If you do not have access to a scanner or are unable to use our File Share portal, you may still either mail your information to us or bring your information to our Suffolk office or our Smithfield office. We have a standard-sized U.S. Postal mail slot in our front door at both locations for your to use to drop off your information. We ask that you limit the size of your pacakges to 1-1/2 inches thick by 11 inches wide so they will fit through our mail slot.
To help support the U.S. economy during this difficult time, we feel it important that refund returns are filed as soon as possible, without unnecessary delay. Therefore, we will concentrate our efforts on completing and submitting client tax returns with tax refunds first while continuing to keep our overall workflow moving.
Additionally, even though the IRS has extended the federal deadline from April 15 to July 15 for both filling tax returns and paying federal income tax balances due (including the first quarter 2020 federal estimated income tax payment), we encourage you to send us your tax information as soon as you are able, even if you anticipate having a balance due on your federal return.
The Virginia Department of Taxation (VATAX) has granted a waiver of penalties and interest until June 1, 2020 for any 2019 tax year income tax balances.
